3rd National Youth Festival Opens in Sawa,

Members of 21st Round National Service

The 3rd National Youth Festival and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the NUEYS opened in Sawa today, while members of the 21st round National Service Program graduated.

In a speech he delivered on the occasion, President Isaias Afwerki said that the 21st round of the NSP is special, as its members not only demonstrated academic excellence but also witnessed the dedication and commitment of the youth. He further underlined that such developments attest to the role of the nation’s youth and shouldering of responsibility. Outlining the impressive achievements registered by youths over the past 10 years, the President underscored that such achievements reinforce the pride and vitality of both the nation and its people.

ndicating that the youth who scored gratifying outcome over the past 10 years are expected to accomplish tasks tenfold in the next 10 years, President Isaias called on Eritrean youths inside the country and abroad to work diligently to this end.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Commander of the National Service Training Center, Lt. Temesgen Samuel, expressed words of welcome and pointed out that the graduates of the 21st round who completed a year-long academic, military and political training have scored satisfactory result. Many of them also scored high mark in the School Leaving Certificate Examination, he added.

Lt. Temesgen went on to explain that the graduation of this year’s NSP batch and the 3rd National Youth Festival are special, as they are taking place at a time when the nation’s image is assuming ever brighter dimension in the world thanks to the firm steadfastness of the Eritrean people and their courageous and dynamic leadership. He further urged the graduates to avail themselves of the existing educational opportunities in the country.

The Chairman of the NUEYS, Mr. Sultan Seid, pointed out on his part that the Eritrean youth over the past half century have been the center of change, struggle, liberation, development, resistance and nation-building, as well as the center of honor and independence.

Moreover, Mr. Sultan asserted that the nation’s youth would be the guarantors of all-round freedom through living up to the nation’s expectation in diverse spheres.

Cultural programs, including the staging of dramas, songs and youth carnival featured on the occasion, while prizes were awarded to those graduates of the 21st NSP who demonstrated excellence.

The 3rd National Youth Festival and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the NUEYS in Sawa would continue up to July 21.
