Ethiopian Review
Former president of Ethiopia Mengistu Hailemariam writes a new book — a memoir — that is expected to be released in a few weeks.
Woyanne journalist and publisher Amare Aregawi is also releasing a new book soon, according to Tesfaye Gebreab. It would be interesting to read what he says about his arch nemesis Al Amoudi.
Mengistu’s books is a tell-all account of his 17 years of bloody rule, Ethiopian Review has learned. However, Tesfaye, in his report below, expresses doubt as to how much Mengistu will reveal. We will find out soon.
No matter what, it is a good thing that books and memoirs are being written by Ethiopians who have played a role in shaping the country’s history — whether their role was good or bad.
Aregawi Berhe’s recently released book, A Political History of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, is one such book.
I recently met with Tesfaye Gebreab in Asmara where he is currently doing research for his new book. It happens that Woyanne has a lot of secrets burried in Eritrea. Tesfaye hopes to release his book, “Ye Derasiw Mastawesha,” in January 2010. If you think “Ye Gazetegnaw Mastawesha” was a shocker, wait until you read the new book. It lays bare some of Woyanne’s most closely guarded secrets. – Elias Kifle

Everything he Mengistu said that happened, and it is happening now. He was, Weyane was only for tigray. We shuld have fought them, but still is not let.
I prefer Mengistu than weyane because Mengistu like his country and all oromo, amhara tigre ,,,etc. I now he killed many people; however Mles does too.

despite the fact history has been abused by the so called historian to to achieve thier motive,whoever is the writer,he may put forwared a slice of truth knowingly or unknowignl tothe audience.anyways we shall browse the books ,and we shall take the likly fact…..

Mengistu Hailmariam has doing his best though the fruit was not as what he and we Ethiopians expeccts. we Ethiopians have no a culture of appreciating our leaders. Trust me we will criticize Meles Zenawi, the best leader even in Africa if he left his power. How GOD create such types of dirty people who never post their leaders photo in their currency. I wish all the hardest time to such dirty Ethiopians.

I would love to read the memoir of the former Ethiopian president Mengstu Haylemariam. I will be checking the Book Stores (Barnes and Nobel, Border )for the book. I read the Memoir of former president Bill Clinton and that is the time I learn how really the goverment is stractured and work.

some are trying to compare the two historic dictators of Ethiopia. neither of them have been relevant for the country like Ethiopia. our ancestors were free and lived in liberty and handed in free country for the last four leaders. However, since the late 1900, Ethiopia has been looking for Freedom. who can tell me that any of either our past leaders or the existing is trying to build developed nation. For all of them political supremacy over their own people was their first issue. But, this should be the time of the nations to retrieve back our historic freedom. whereas in this 21st century , most of nations are entertaining good governance and the question around democracy is not primary question. rather , they meet, discuss and unite to break and cope up with the upcoming future economic take over. we Ethiopian`s are crying for good governance and democrat leader.
So, every Ethiopians, you, and me need to weak up!!!!!
